PRIME RE ACADEMY WORKSHOP FOCUSING ON
REINSURANCE OPTIMIZATION

Reinsurance is equally important for solvency practitioners as for reinsurance actuaries endeavoring to master the fundamental risk transfer concepts and the respective actuarial techniques.

This 2-days workshop teaches the participants the theoretical knowledge they need to price and structure reinsurance programs, and it enables them to put this acquired know-how into practice on the spot. In the course of the workshop, we shall design increasingly complex reinsurance treaties, price them, and design the most efficient risk transfer program. In particular, we will consider:

• fundaments and purpose of reinsurance
• proportional and non-proportional reinsurance
• experience and exposure rating
• long tail lines of business
• expenses and risk loadings
• reinsurance optimization

The workshop addresses both the underlying theory and concepts as well as their practical implementations with Excel® templates. In particular, it will enable the participants to try out the techniques directly on their own laptop and apply them later in their daily chores.
